Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks quarterback Taylor Elgersma signed with the Green Bay Packers on Monday, as first reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Elgersma is the fourth QB from a Canadian university to sign with an NFL team, and first since 1987 (H/T 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk).
The “Canuck Cannon” met with the Packers brass last weekend for a follow-up interview after his rookie mini-camp in Green Bay, according to Dunk.
Elgersma originally had other NFL mini-camp invites, including a previously accepted invite from the Buffalo Bills, but the London, Ont., product elected not to go anywhere else due to Green Bay’s strong interest.
Alessandro Lorenzetti has transferred to the Baylor Bears, the defensive and offensive lineman announced Sunday on social media.
Lorenzetti spent the last three years with the Michigan Wolverines — winning a College Football Playoff national championship in January 2024 — but hasn’t seen any game action yet.
The Montreal native joins OL Joe Crocker, who’s from Ascot, England, as the two new international players coming to Waco, Texas, in 2025.

As the final evaluation camp for the Canadian national flag football teams nears, young athletes from across the country have made their way to the Elite Flag Nationals tournament in Kingston, Ont., this weekend.
Current, incoming and future Canadian collegiate flag football players will be at the annual tournament, kicking off on Friday.
Men’s national head coach Paul LaPolice indicated to me on Tuesday that he will be there scouting talent as the TSN analyst and former CFL coach looks to narrow down his team.
Team West won the East-West Bowl for a second consecutive year on Saturday, beating the beasts from the east, 32-20.
West’s win marked the highest-scoring edition of the annual U Sports spring all-star game since 2019.
